The Gullah Festival of South Carolina helps to celebrate the history, customs, and accomplishments of the African Americans of the Low Country. The festival is held on the weekend before Memorial Day and boast a large and ever growing attendance. What started as 35 people in 1986 has since grown to almost 70,000 people in the course of the three days the event takes place.

It is a non-alchoholic festival and is family oriented which make it the perfect spot for vacationers and family reunions to gather around. The Gullah Festival always seeks to educate its visitors about Gullah History and culture and does so in a variety of ways. Presentation awards and donations to the community are also a part of the event as well as the amazing musical entertainment. Expect to hear gospel, blues, jazz and reggae. Expect to see storytelling, dancing arts and crafts, food courts, vendors beauty pageants, art shows, plays and more.
